Prodigy English is an ELA learning game advertised as a "life simulation" game, developed by Prodigy Education and released on 20 April 2022.
Gameplay[]
In 2023, a brief introduction cutscene prior to the tutorial revealed that the entire game takes place inside of the student avatar's dreams. The student, who in their story is a child in elementary school, accidentally tripped one day after school and broke a model village they presented to their class on the same day. The child goes to bed that night wishing on a shooting star, and they fall asleep only to begin dreaming of repairing their model village as though they were the village's custodian.
The player's stuffed animal, which manifests themself in the dream as the Wishie who leads the character through the tutorial, tasks the student with creating a village. They answer questions to gain energy, which can be used to do tasks in the game. The player will have different tools that they can use, including the Axe, Pickaxe, Shovel, and Fishing Rod.
Unlike Prodigy Math Game, Prodigy English appears to have no storyline involved with it, and is more of a sandbox game similar to Animal Crossing, Minecraft, or Gardenscapes.
There is an inventory system where the player can store the items that they have found. These include what can be assumed to be wood, clothes, supply crates, furnishes, and blueprints. There are different tabs in the inventory, labeled "items," "outfits," and "tools."
Education Goals[]
Prodigy English currently offers Common Core-aligned language content for grades 1 to 6 and reading content for grades 3 to 6.
Reception[]
It was announced in October 2021, and had an Early Access period in January 2022. It launched to the public in April 2022.[Citation needed]
No premium membership for the game existed until its release; now, two tiers of paid membership subscription allow students to receive minor bonuses in the game outside of its plot.
The game's developers have described it, saying, "In this life simulation game, players can create their own world filled with objects they've built while answering skill-building ELA questions to gain energy and keep moving."
Not everyone had Early Access immediately, but everyone that applied during its period received access on a rolling basis.[1]

- On the island next to the Market Stall, you can see a package with the Prodigy Education logo on it.
- There was an update that each day players can shake trees to find sticks, acorns, or coconuts.
- There was an update of the animation when you make a wish.
- So far, it doesn't have a standard grade in the Parent Linking yet.
- On October 2022, an update of adding pets to the game was released.
- In December 2022, they updated the loading screen so it would have tips the player could use in-game on it.
- Though it was released on 20 April 2022, certain accounts could play it before then.
