Engineering Mode is a decoration mode in Prodigy English that is similar to House Editing in Prodigy Math Game. Players are able to place furnishings, such as furniture and decorations, around on a grid that disappears when the player exits the mode.

Overview[]

To access Engineering Mode, the player needs to be outdoors within their village and must click on the blueprint icon on their bottom center toolbar. In all other areas throughout Prodigy English, Engineering Mode is disabled—foreign places like the Crossroads, Tropical Forest, and Dusty Plains are not the player's property so they need to be left undeveloped.

Once players enter the mode, their avatar can still move around, and they watch as the grid underfoot moves relative to their avatar. Players can use their backpack, now moved to the top left corner, to select a single object to place it on the ground. They may hover the object back over the bag to put it back inside. If it is difficult for a player to click on the exact location where they want to place their furnishing, there are four arrow buttons at the bottom right of the interface that can gradually translate the item across the grid.

Players are able to place an object on the ground when the grid underfoot lights up bright lime instead of crimson. When they would like to exit Engineering Mode, they can easily do so by pressing the "back" or "x" button at the top right or they can reclick on the Engineering Mode symbol at the bottom center to return to normal player view.

Limitations[]

Each object has its own dimensions—the length and width in terms of squares&mash;and furnishings cannot take up preoccupied space. Some objects in the game cannot be moved, such as the player's house, the Wishing Well, the City docks, the Market Stall, navigational signposts, and the neighbors' houses.

Most of what players can place down can be moved, however once a player finalizes a neighbor's housing plans and purchases the full building that building is permanently locked into its position. However, placed-down housing plans are still moveable in Engineering Mode.
