Merchant-sprite

Merchants are non-playable characters (NPCs) that sell items. They are seen in all of the areas in the game except the Dark Tower, your house, and Harmony Island.

Appearance[]

The Elemental Merchants usually appear as small gnomes with yellow beards, and also appear to be carrying a backpack with their goods. They have huge gray feet, with peach colored toes and light gray toenails. They wear pointy blue hat, topped with a leaf, with a treasure chest symbol in a white oval on it.

The Academy Merchant and Harvey are yellow Floatlings.

Macha is a wooden ghost with a green cloak.

Professor Scoog sells dyno themed items that are sold at Dyno Dig Oasis.

The Crystal Caverns Merchant is a yeti named Aspen Frost.

The Shipwreck Shore merchant (also the Summerfest merchant) is a blue Merling named Athena.

Quest Merchants[]

Quest Merchants are special merchants (or miner) that give you rewards for collecting certain miscellaneous items. The Quest Merchant in Firefly Forest collects fireflies, and the Quest Merchant in Shiverchill Mountains collects Ice Crystals. The final few items they provide in turn for the fireflies and ice crystals are hats, outfits, fireworks, and wands.

Event Merchants[]

Event merchants appear during limited time events. Each event has its own currency. Howard Cornelius is an example because he only appears during Winterfest.

Springfest: Harriet Hood and Don Zorro[]

These two sell Bunny and Fox items. Trade them magic eggs won by battling monsters/pets in exchange for some of their items. They each encourage you to join their side. In order to access their items, you need to be wearing a bunny/fox hat they give to you at the start of the event.

Summerfest: Merlings[]

The main Merling is Athena. You can trade Sand Dollars with her for rare items or equipment, such as the Draconyx set. There's also Koi (who runs The Wheel of the Sun, which replaces the regular wheels), Mist (who changes your hair), and Mizu (who changes your nickname).

Starlight Festival: Mama Star[]

Mama Star is a human merchant that only appears during the Starlight Festival. The currency for Starlight Festival was first Star Shards, then Dragon Flies, and now has been changed back to Star Shards.

Pumpkinfest: Kandi Korn[]

Kandi Korn is a slime with the appearance of candy corn. She's a merchant that only appears during Pumpkinfest.

Winterfest: Howard Cornelius[]

Howard Cornelius is a yeti merchant with a mustache that only appears during Winterfest.

Trivia[]

  • In Lamplight Town, there are sprites that look like merchants; however, they are not. They let you spin the wheels, battle in the Arena (Coliseum), and run the Bounty Board.
  • The event merchants have had the most design changes.
  • The newest merchant to the game is an Yeti named Aspen Frost in Crystal Caverns.
  • The merchants like Scoog, Harvey, and Aspen Frost have an icon floating above them.
  • Athena replaced the blue fish like merchant in Shipwreck Shore, and is also the only merchant to run a shop in two different places.
  • Macha, the Toy Merchant is wearing the Jester's Robes.
  • There is another item-selling NPC, Harvey. He is a Floatling who sells gear for battling the Titan at the Titan Grounds. He can be found in Lamplight Town and Titan Grounds itself.
